We do that by offering a system that is easy to install, affordable and sustainable.
The core material of our Living Wall system is Cork. Cork is a natural and eco-friendly material, which has been around since the dawn of time, in fact the earliest recorded use of cork was nearly 5000 BC in Mesopotamia for making shoes, wine bottles and even boats.
We choose Cork as our core material because:
• Cork is very strong and flexible and one of the most sustainable materials on earth.
• Cork is 100% biodegradable and recyclable and thus, it can be used over and over again.
• Cork absorbs CO2 and releases oxygen (just like a plant) helping us breathe better air!
Cork is mostly harvested from Quercus Suber trees, which are abundant in the Western Mediterranean region. These trees typically live up to 200 years and grow continuously at a rate of only 5 cm per year.
The cork harvesting process is very sustainable and preserves the tree. The bark can be harvested every 9-12 years without killing the tree. The tree remains healthy after each harvest allowing it to continue growing.
The cork bark is then used for different objects, some of which are: bottle stoppers, bulletin boards or insulation materials and now, our own patented Living Wall System.
Building a living wall CAN and SHOULD be easier than you think.
We are so excited to be able to share this new product with you!
