Maintenance is easy with carbonized cork living wall systems. Here’s why:
There are many different types of living wall systems on the market today, but nothing compares to the versatile, eco-friendly design of Cortiça Garden’s carbonized cork. Sourced from the bark of the cork oak tree, our living wall systems are relatively easy to care for over time.
For one, the replacement of both the boards and plants is simple. Our specially designed pots make it easy to switch out both plants and/or pots when need. As for the panels, damaged panels can be replaced individually per board and per plant hole.
Second, if you want to make maintenance even easier, you have the option to install an automatic watering system. Automatic systems can be customized to the condition of each site making it not only easy to maintain the optimal environment for plants but to make sure they’re consistently hydrated, too.
Finally, carbonized cork fights and repels plant diseases and harmful insects. Cork is naturally antibacterial and discourages the growth of bacteria, fungus, and insects. This means you’ll spend less time and money replacing sick plants and more time enjoying your beautiful living wall.

Now that you know why carbonized cork is easy to care for, here are some maintenance tips that will help your living wall last. If you’ve recently installed a carbonized cork system from Cortiça, consider the following:
Temperature: For indoor installations, try not to let temperatures drop below 50° F or 10° C.
Watering: If using an automatic irrigation system, check the timer and the breaker once a week. Also, look to see if the power outlet of the control box is plugged in correctly and that the water is flowing well. You may also want to set the timer according to the season and weather conditions. If you are using a water tank, be sure to fill and clean the tank once every three to four weeks.
Plants: Check the condition of the plants about once every two weeks. Look for insects, remove any dead leaves/plants, check the condition of the leaves, and inspect the sphagnum moss.
Lighting: Maintain minimum lighting of 2000 lux.
